OMG I'M BACK FROM OBS :D
wow. i swear the obs experience was totally awesome cause we bonded as a class and everything and i must say 304 is a really awesome and funny class but of course there were the other horrible parts of obs. we were split into our 2 watches, munshi and marshell :D munshi rocks man all the super noisy people were in that watch :D but of course marshall had their share of crazy people :D
first day, we reached pulau ubin and met the instructors etc. then we unpacked the store. everything was damn heavy can and kinda dirty and WET. oh gawd. whatever anyway then that night, we never made it to our campsite that is something i don't have the answer to. so anyway we carried our PITCHED tents through some path thingy which had HUGE and i mean HUGE puddles all the way to this rocky path where we slept that night. then there were rocks everywhere under the tent i just sat there the whole night. and we kept drowning ourselves in prickly heat powder haha. shared tent with jenny, valerie and dear sheryl tan. and i tell you jenny sleeps like a rock and sheryl tan just lay there and we thought she was sleeping but actually she was stoning? i think yeah then we woke up and un-pitched the tents in the DARK and headed over to our actual campsite where we had some alpine rescue wooden log obstacle course thing where we had to transport this plastic stretcher thing which we kept calling a boat over to the other side. and dea jenny went " christine! you are the gymnast right! you go first and balance the thing." so thats what happened later on cause in the beginning we tried different people until it came down to me and sheryl tan so the 2 of us ended up pushing the stretcher thing.
and sheryl tan can balance damn well too lah! don't know whether she's just so calm and stone or its because she should be a gymnast rather then a swimmer. haha. then we headed back to base camp and had KAYAKING. wah ok here comes the drama part. we had to have capsize drill in the shallow waters first so i partnered sheryl tan and we shared a kayak. then we were supposed to go one-two-three and then capsize. but then we being the crazy people went "one" and boom we capsized -.- damn funny lah. anyway then it started raining so we went back on shore and stayed indoors cause it was category one lightening etc. but then half an hour later. the all clear was supposedly given and we headed out to DEEP waters to do the TX rescue thing. but mind you when we launched, there was still lightning and me and sheryl kept swearing lah. i tell you this 5 days at obs was the period of time i swore and cursed the most. so anyway we went out to the deep waters with lightning still in the sky. and just as we capsized the first kayak, the lightning got heavier and by the time they got back on, the water and the sky was already damn black with lightning falling and flashing left right centre and of course me and sheryl tan swearing left right centre and we were damn far from base camp. by that time the instructor decided we should head back already and just as we turned into the correct direction, it started RAINING. and i tell you it wasn't drizzling or just raining. it was a freaking THUNDER STORM with lightning to top it off. damn scary lah i tell you. then me and sheryl for some reason always kayak damn fast so we over took the instructor and she told us to go on and head to base camp. so we basically headed on and led them back while she remained there to help i think and li khee and siti capsized in the storm! anyway me and sheryl finally made it back and i tell you, the scene of the storm was like the kind you see in drama movies like posiedon or something. the rain was pelting down damn hard and we could barely hear ourselves lah so we were screaming the commands. anyway then just as we were reaching base camp much to our relief, the stupid lightning flashed above us and dropped down somewhere in front of us. wah we screamed like nobody's buisness and according to fuxin and huiqing who arrived 5 mins after us my scream could be heard echoing through the whole place and they were damn far behind us lah. then every body was crying and everything and they told us a rescue boat had gone out to bring the rest back which was practically half the class. and through out the whole thing sheryl tan just kept saying "faster row this damn shit" oh man sheryl tan's favourite word is shit and bloody haha. yeah so anyway the whole class was crying and we were damn worried for ying yin who was kayaking alone. bah omg i will never forget this man.
still got drama part 2. on the next day we had to perform the TX rescue AGAIN. cause not all the groups had done it. and it was also the day of the sea expedition. so anyway we launched again and salad and i had to rescue jenny and valerie and vice versa. and that day the current was damn strong so anyway they capsized and don't know what happened but we started drifting towards the stupid boat which brought us to pulau ubin. and the engine was runnning can so all 4 of us were screaming like siao and we somehow couldn't get jenny back onto the kayak so sheryl and i were holding on to their kayak with one hand and trying to push all of us and the 2 kayaks away from the boat -.- and the instructor was screaming for us to row away from the boat and obviously sheryl and i couldn't row with only one hand. yeah but anyway we finally got jenny and valerie rescued XD then it was our turn to capsize and after capsizing, 5 mins later we were back on the kayak. haha see the difference. but by that time my back was hurting like siao so i went to the medical centre and missed sea expedition and stayed there till they got back but anyway for their sea expedition, the kayaked 7 hours across the channel, kelongs and break waters to sembawang. but they took only 3 hours to get back! and they were like smelling oranges the whole way when they started feeling sea sick. and sheryl tan actually peeled and ATE the orange -.- haha hmm. then at night amelia and celeste came to the medical centre after the boat brought jenny and woon ki back to the campsite and amelia had allergy to fibre glass. ironic since she was a sailer but damn poor thing cause she couldn't even wash her hair so i had to wash it for her haha. hmm then when they came back.
day 4, we had height elements in the afternoon after they arrived back around 1. and we did the log frame thingy which was like a log ladder except after the first log, the gap to the next one was about my height. so anyway partnered sheryl tan again. so basically our system was like we did a cheerleading PA stand kinda thing where she stood on my leg and pulled herself up to the next log and then she being a swimmer with strong arms, pulled onto my belay rope while i put my left leg 180 degress like a ban tui thingy with my ankle hooked on the log and my other hand holding the cable and pulled myself up. and instructor alex was super funny lah he was down there on the ground imitating and trying to figure out how i did it. aiyo then everytime we made it up another level, we sat there and started talking like holding a conversation so high above the ground while our poor belayers waited. but anyway we finally made it to the top :D and quoted from sheryl "we own the sea and we own the height elements" haha so happy! and we were all so high and everything cause we were going back the next day but we still had the hitting the bell thing also which the 2 of us managed to do :D
i guess basically except for all the scary parts, i really did enjoy obs. and 3o4 really got to know each other so much better :D but still got BIO JOURNAL AND MATHS WORKSHEET TO DO =( better get down to work already.
and i'm still so tired.
